Pot nazaj v prihodost

Slika

Last day on the island

As promised, the students that had been working at the hotel, had the chance to explore a bit more. They headed to the west side before the sun came up. Three buses later they ended up in Tazacorte. Before they boarded the ship, they went to the beach. Then they got on the boat and left the port. They drove for about an hour to the north. Before getting to the view point to see the whales and dolphins (they didn't see them), the boat driver took them to the biggest seaside cave on the island. After that they looked at the houses where the Aboriginal people lived when they first inhabited La Palma. The tour guide explained to them that the beach where they took a swim, loses its sand in the winter by the waves (the sea scoops the sand) and is brought back in the summer. From the sea-shore it is visible how much the island grew in the past years by lines and marks carved in the wall by the water. The sea is calmer and quieter during the winter than in summer. When going back the win

Lazy Sunday

Today was our most unproductive day. Our professors went on a walk, while the rest of us stayed inside (except the ones who went to work). Not because we were ordered to, but because we're made of sugar and didn't want to get wet (it sprinkled a bit). So, while you are freezing in Slovenia, we refuse to leave our apartments when the temperature goes down by 2 degrees. That is why our professors keep lecturing us to get out more, while also telling us about the things they saw on their daily trips. At the hotel, there were a lot of rooms to inspect. In the whole day they had to go over more than 50 rooms. There were as much check-outs at the reception as there were rooms to clean, so they also had a lot of work there. The rest of us were appointed to cook and clean a bit. The waves today were very big, but despite that one of the students went to take a swim (we thought he drowned, because he didn't answer his phone).

New volcano

Story of the day: When I was at the reception I explained to a Brittish couple how to get to Santa Cruz by bus, where the bus stop is, how frequent the bus is and how much it costs. Afterwards they turned to my colleague and said: "Keep him, he's a keeper". In the morning there was a bit more work at the hotel, but in the afternoon it was a bit more relaxed. That's why they just made origami's and exchanged them. The rest of us went on another excursion or more of a hike to the volcano. We got picked up at 8 in the morning from the main station at Santa Cruz. Then we had to pick up a few more guests on the way to the Cumbre Vieja volcano. We drove for around half an hour. We walked to the vantage point near the volcanos ridge. The walk lasted for around an hour and a half. We had to walk on defined paths because if not, you could be fined 3.000€. The fine can even come up to 30.000€, if you walk too close to the volcano. When we were near the volcano, we could als
